Most turmeric is used in the form of rhizome powder.
Turmeric root can also be eaten fresh.
In some regions turmeric leaves are used to wrap and cook food.
Flowers may be eaten as a vegetable.
Turmeric is believed to have anti-inflammatory properties.
In Ayurvedic practices, turmeric has been used to treat a variety of internal disorders, such as indigestion, throat infections, common colds, or liver ailments, as well as topically to cleanse wounds or treat skin sores.
Turmeric is also used at a dark yellow dye.
