The tender shoots and flowers of the neem tree are eaten as a vegetable in India.
Neem in Siddha and Ayurveda is used as an antihelmenthic, antifungal, antidiabetic, antibacterial, antiviral,contraceptive and sedative. Also used for skin diseases, healthy hair, to improve liver function, detoxify the blood, and balance blood sugar levels
Dried leaves are used to deter insects.
