He had issue:
1) Ḥarb ibn Umayyah al-Umawī. He had issue:
a) Abū Sufyān Ṣakhr ibn Ḥarb al-Umawī - see below.
b) Ḥārith ibn Ḥarb al-Umawī, who married Saffiyah bint `Abd il-Muttalib al-Hāshemī, an aunt of the Prophet, who also married Al-`Awwām ibn Khuwaylid al-Asadī, with whom she was grandmother to Ibn az-Zubayr, who claimed the Caliphate and ruled in the Hejaz (680-692).
a) Umm Jamil bint Ḥarb al-Umawī. She married Abū Lahab `Abd ul-Uzzā ibn `Abd il-Muttalib al-Hāshemī, a prominent opponent of Islam and the Leader of Quraysh until his death, shortly after the the Battle of Badr. She had issue, including:
i) `Utbah ibn Abī Lahab al-Hashemi. He married Ruqayyah bint Muḥammad al-Hashemī, daughter of the Prophet and his first wife Khadijah bint Khuwaylid al-Asadī, who later married the Third Rashidun Caliph.
ii) `Utaybah ibn Abī Lahab al-Hashemi. He married Umm Kulthūm bint Muḥammad al-Hashemī, daughter of the Prophet and his first wife Khadijah bint Khuwaylid al-Asadī, who later married the Third Rashidun Caliph.
2) Abūl-`Ās ibn Umayyah al-Umawī. He had issue, including:
a) `Affān ibn Abīl-`Ās al-Umawī. He married Arwā bint Kurayz `Abd Shamsī, daughter of his second cousin and had issue, including the Third Rashidun Caliph - See RASHIDUN 3
b) Al-Ḥakam ibn Abīl-`Ās al-Umawī. He married Āminah bint `Alqamah al-Kinānī and had issue, including:
i) Abū `Abd al-Malik Marwān I ibn al-Ḥakam al-Umawī, Fourth Umayyad Caliph - See below.
ii) Yahyā ibn al-Hakam al-Umawī, Umayyad General, Governor of Palestine, Governor of Medina (694-695). He led the Summer Campaign into the Byzantine Empire in 697. He married Zaynab bint `Abd ir-Raḥmān and had issue, including:
(1) Umm Hakīm bint Yahyā al-Umawī, who married Abūl-Walīd Hishām al-Kusafah ibn `Abd il-Malik al-'Umawī, the Tenth Umayyad Caliph and had issue - see below.
ii) Al-Ḥārith ibn al-Hakam al-Umawī. He had issue, including:
(1) `Abd ul-Malik ibn al-Ḥārith al-Umawī. He had issue, including:
(a) Al-Ḥārith ibn `Abd il-Malik al-Umawī. He had issue, including:
(i) Khālid ibn al-Ḥārith al-Umawī. He was Governor of Medina (732-735) and led the Hajj (pilgrimage) in 732 and 735.
(2) `Abd ul-`Azīz ibn al-Ḥārith al-Umawī. He had issue, including:
(a) Sa`īd Khudhaynah ibn `Abd il-`Azīz al-Umawī. Governor of Khorasan for the Governor of Iraq and the East (721-722) and, briefly, in his own right (722). He nickname "Khudhaynah" refers to a women's hairstyle and implies effeminacy. He married an unnamed daughter of Maslamah ibn `Abd il-Malik al-Umawī, the greatest general of the Umayyads, and the Governor of Iraq and the East during Sa`īd's governorship.
iii) Yazīd ibn al-Hakam al-Umawī. He had issue, including:
(1) `Abdullāh ibn Yazīd al-'Umawī, Governor of Kufa from some time after 678 until 685.
(2) `Amr ibn Yazīd al-Umawī
i) Umm al-Banīn bint al-Ḥakam al-Umawī. She married her cousin, Sa'īd ibn al-'Ās al-'Umawī and had issue - see below
c) `Uthmān ibn Abīl-`Ās al-Umawī. Governor of the City of Ta`if.
a) Umm Habiba Saffiyah bint Abīl-`Ās al-Umawī. She married her cousin, Abū Sufyān Ṣakhr ibn Ḥarb al-Umawī, Leader of Quraysh and the opponents of Islam (624-630). She had issue - see below.
3) Al-`Ās ibn Umayyah al-Umawī. He had issue, including:
a) Sa`īd ibn al-`Ās al-Umawī, Governor of Medina (669-674). He led the Hajj (pilgrimage) in 669, 672 and 673. He married his cousin Umm al-Banīn bint al-Ḥakim al-Umawī and had issue, including:
i) Abū Umayyah `Amr al-Ashdaq ibn Sa`īd al-Umawī. An Umayyad General, Governor of Kufa (678-679), Governor of Mecca & Medina (680-681). He led the Hajj (pilgrimage) in 680. At the accession of Marwan in 684, he was third in line to the throne, but Marwan reneged on this promise. He was placed in charge of Damascus, the Capital, in 688, while the Caliph was absent and used the opportunity to rebel, claiming the Caliphate, but was killed in the same year.
(1) Umayyah ibn `Amr al-Umawī.
(2) Sa`īd ibn `Amr al-Umawī.
(3) Ismā`īl ibn `Amr al-Umawī.
(4) Muḥammad ibn `Amr al-Umawī.
ii) Yahyā ibn Sa`īd al-Umawī. He had issue, including:
(1) Sa`īd ibn Yahyā al-Umawī. He died fighting in North Africa in 702.
4) Abīl-'Is ibn Umayyah al-Umawī. He had issue, including:
a) Asīd ibn Abīl-'Is al-Umawī. He had issue, including:
i) `Attāb ibn Asīd al-Umawī. Born around 600, Joint-Governor of Mecca (630-643) & Governor of the Clan Kinānah, which included the Quraysh (632-643). He led the Hajj (pilgrimage) in 632 and died in 643.
ii) Khālid ibn Asīd al-Umawī, a general of the Rashidun Caliphate. He had issue, including:
(1) `Abdullāh ibn Khālid al-Umawī, Governor of Basra (673-675). He had issue, including:
(a) Khālid ibn `Abdillāh al-Umawī. He acted as a spy for the Umayyads in Basra (689-690), during the Second Fitna, and was later Governor there (690-692, 693-694) & at Kufa (693-694). He had issue, including:
(i) Umayyah ibn Khālid al-Umawī, an Umayyad General, and Governor of Khorasan (693-697).
(ii) Yazīd ibn Khālid al-Umawī. He had issue, including:
1. `Uthmān ibn Yazīd ibn al-Umawī
(b) `Abd ul-`Azīz ibn `Abdillāh al-Umawī. He was Governor of Mecca (716-721) and led the Hajj in 716.
