What this means is that when we read Jewish laws and critique or excise them, we're not acting like heretics or hypocrites, but like Jews placed solidly in their historic tradition, following the lead of precedent. How cool is that? I like this Parsha because its inadequacies remind me that Judaism's laws are not dogmatic and rigid by nature, and that we should feel empowered to call out what we see as bull$h!t. Let's be proud of that!
