Even in the Torah, right from the very beginning, there is 1) a distinction that there is a right and wrong 2) that creating that ideal society is not easy and 3) that for the majority, most will not follow the right path. In fact, God does sort of regret the creation of humans. This parsha also takes place at the beginning of the Jewish year. We remind ourselves of this story as we start another year, full of our own firsts. I’m sure that many of you are probably starting something new this year. Whether that be a new school, or living in a new city, or both.
SO
What kind of firsts will you have this year? Will they be something you intentionally create?
How do we as a youth movement find strength in trying to create this ideal society, when we are surrounded by differing opinions, apathy, etc.?
How can we use this whole story as a guide for ways of implementing our values into our lives?
Although we may not necessarily be striving for God’s favor, how do we face post-modernity with a strong ideology and strong actions?
Just some thoughts.
