History in the Making - Part 18

Ok... Accordingly to what was said, there's a meteor storm outside and that can probably mean no electricity nowhere. Except, perhaps, local generators.. Like hospitals, police and firefighter usually do. So, maybe, power isn't such big issue... And besides, there's power in here. Being a bunker, I figure it's from a battery or generator or both... But the old man probably needs an MRI or something of the likes. The nearest hospital I know is a couple kilometers up the hill and he doesn't look like capable of that trip or even just walking great distances, and we can't bring the equipment here.. Not the transportable type... Roads are blocked out, destroyed and the rest is simply grim.

I'm usually good at finding most of the possible combinatory outcomes, whether those are problems or solutions, but I'm much to negative right now to favorably resolve this... I need to clear my mind, but instead I started to breathe quickly in response to my thoughts and lack of resolution when a carrot appeared in from of me. The cooking lady approached me offering a small bowl of carrots and a smile. Without replying, I've grabbed the bowl in acceptance.

As I looked around I've noticed that she was continuing distributing small bowls of carrots to everybody. I found that gesture somewhat funny. It soothed me...

Suddenly the light flicker for a good couple seconds and Joe announced:

- We better get some sleep. We'll think better in the morning.

What? Am I the only one curious about why would the light flicker? Oh well... Fine... I'll figure out later. That felt ominous!

With that, the angry father disappeared into some door as Joe and I went for the old man to help him to his bed accompanied by the doctor in the house.

Afterwards, I just went back to the entry room to sit on the sofa. Didn't felt like sleeping so soon although I should.

I finally picked up my cellphone from my pocket and as expected and delayed to confirmed, no signal, no messages and no notifications. Good thing I always have the charger with me 'cause the battery is also almost dead...

I started to think about tomorrow and in what to do next but I've grown more and more tired and ended up falling asleep right there...
