Book club met on Oct. 11, 2011 at Maggie's to discuss Jonathon Safran Foer's novel Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. Maggie sends this synopsis of the discussion:

There were only 7 of us due in part to illness, long distance travel and fog.

I didn't take notes so the following thoughts are a little sketchy:

Some people had trouble with the ramblings of eight year old Oskar and with determining who was "talking" in each section of the book. Various elements in the book were confusing, ie. the vague black and white photos, the increasingly tiny-to- blurred print in another part and the colored scribblings in another. In spite of this many liked the book. The general consensus was that the book was fascinating, very worth reading, imaginative and also very sad.
