We only meet twice a year and need to get business done. We spend too much time arguing over what the rules of order are and too often progress and business is delayed only because we are hung up on process and most are not well versed in what the process is. Major changes to rules and regs or constitution have to be done in a very formal way but other items to get business done can be delt with during the immediacy of the meeting. Following the basic principles of having a motion, with a mover seconder, discussion and a vote is fine. Getting bogged down arguing over process and delaying decisions is often not in the best interest of the organization.
