Unit 4 Design

HEALTH FOR ALL MOVEMENT

Dear Learner,

Mabuhay!

Welcome to "Health for All Movement"!

Why this unit on “Health for All Movement”?

Physicians are considered health managers, not only of individuals and families, but also of communities or a large group of people or a population.

To be a competent manager of the health of a community, physicians must consider the health of the large number of people and for that matter, the population in the community. They must focus their target not on individuals nor families but on everybody, or at least the majority, in the community. Thus, the “Health for All” strategy.

In view of the present state of health care delivery system, if only all practicing physicians will subscribe to the Health for All strategy, health management will be more cost-effective with management at the level of individual patients and families becoming easier and less costly. First and foremost reason for this statement is that with Health for All strategy, the incidence and prevalence of disease will be expected to be lower than before. Second, recurrence of the health problems of individuals and families will be decreased because the Health for All strategy will tend to prevent vicious disease cycle or infectious and contagious process.

Thus, because of its importance, all physicians should understand the concept of Health for All and should know how to utilize it in health development.

Pls. take a look at the concept map or framework for the unit below.
