HYPOTHETICAL CASES

PROBLEMS:

1. A 16-year-old girl consulted you for a toothache. How would you manage this girl?

2. A 5-year-old boy consulted you for a wound which he incurred a few minutes ago while playing basketball. How would you manage this boy?

3. A 7-year-old boy was brought by his mother to you because of fever. The boy had also cough and colds. How would you manage this boy?

INSTRUCTIONS ON WHAT TO DO:

For each case, accomplish the following:

Analyze the problem.

Determine the nature and cause of the problem.

In other words, make a diagnosis.

Make a plan for treatment.

Make a plan of how you would assess the result of your treatment.

Make a plan on how you would prevent recurrence of the problem.

*Report to the group and faculty your accomplishment.

Demonstrate to peers and the faculty your accomplishment of the learning objectives.

HYPOTHETICAL CASES

PROBLEMS:

1. Mr. Filipino lives with his wife and four children. The ages of his four children are as follows: 2 - 3 - 5 - 6. All are afflicted with measles during a span of one month. The youngest is in the hospital with a complication of lung infection. The other three children are confined in the house. The mother is 7-month pregnant. Mr. Filipino is the only breadwinner, earning P 120 per day.

2. Mr. San Miguel lives with his wife and four children. The ages of his four children are as follows: 10 - 13 - 15 - 17. Mr. San Miguel has been indulging in alcohol and drugs for one year now. For the past year, the wife and the children have been begging for alms just in order to be able to eat.

3. Mr. Marlboro lives with his wife and four children. The ages of his four children are as follows: 3 - 5 - 7 - 8. The children are all known to be asthmatics. For the past one year, Mr. Marlboro has been smoking excessively in the house and everywhere. For the past one year too, the asthmatic attacks of all four children are noted to be more frequent.
