Why this project or unit on “Health Management Plans”?
Physicians are considered managers of health of individuals, families, and communities.
For this reason, they should know how to formulate health management plans. Thus, the importance and inclusion of this unit on “Health Management Plans.”
Another reason: Pls. look at the concept map or framework of the Course (Health Management) and you will readily understand the reason for inclusion of this unit in this Course. Knowing how to formulate health management plans for individuals, families, and communities will facilitate the promotion of Health For All Movement.
Concept Map or Framework of the Course
Still another reason: Pls. look at the concept map or framework of Unit 1 (Concept of Health and Disease) and again, you will readily understand the reason for inclusion of this unit in this Course. Formulating health management plans will help in removing kinks and resolving uncertainties that are usually encountered in the initial expression of concept of health and disease.
Concept Map or Framework of Unit 1: Concept of Health and Disease
GENERAL LEARNING OBJECTIVE:
Given hypothetical and actual individuals, families, and communities with or without health problem, the student must be able to formulate management plans for each situation, demonstrating skills in the application of the general steps in health management.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the unit, the student must be able to:
1. Given hypothetical and actual individuals, families, and communities, formulate a management plan, demonstrating skills in the application of the general steps in health management.
2. Given individuals, families, and communities with or without health problems, determine
2.1 which ones are healthy and which ones are not (or have disease).
2.2 the general causes of health problems.
2.3 the factors that promote health and disease.
2.4 what diagnostic tools are usually used.
2.5 what treatment modalities are usually used.
2.6 the usual outcomes after treatment.
3. Manage health of self and own family by diagnosing the health status, then formulating a plan of treatment, if indicated, and health improvement and maintenance.
4. Demonstrate skills in the following (how to study) learning methods or activities and professional skills:
4.1 self-directed learning
4.2 independent study
4.3 small group discussion
