Export settings

По-русски

In A>V>C> Options Palette (_AVCOptions command) on the tab "Export settings" you can find commands for working with all the settings of plug-ins A>V>C> at once.

A>V>C> programs store their settings in the Windows registry, separate from AutoCAD or BricsCAD settings. You can make a copy of these settings, save them all in a REG file. For this, you can use the regular program RegEdit. But it is more convenient and correct to use the Export and Import buttons from the A>V>C> Options Palette. This allows you to selectively save and restore without touching the license, account, window settings and other sections that do not make sense to save to a file.

You can also use the system of automatic export and automatic import. Thus, you will always have an up-to-date copy of the settings that will save you when Windows crashes. Just set up automatic export to a folder on a separate hard drive or flash drive.

And if you put the file with the settings in a cloud folder (something like DropBox, OneDrive, GoogleDisk, etc.) that is synchronized with all your computers, then you will get a system for automatically synchronizing the settings of your computers. Similarly, using a shared folder in the cloud or on a corporate file server, you can distribute A>V>C> program settings to all members of your workgroup, your design office. This ensures the uniformity of the design of the drawings.

It is highly recommended not to import settings from heavily outdated versions. It is also undesirable to import settings from programs configured for another language.

Reset

Removing all A>V>C> plugin settings from the registry. Licenses and activations will be preserved. It is recommended to reset the settings if you notice strange behavior of plugins after version updates. Export settings to a file before resetting. If a factory reset doesn't fix the problem, you can easily get your settings back. You can reset the settings of individual programs: do not use this button, but the button in the header of each settings tab.

Export settings

Save the settings of all A>V>C> programs to a registry file (.REG). In addition to activations. Saved settings can be used to transfer to another computer. You can add the exported registry keys to the Windows domain group policy and then all workplaces will have the same settings.

Import settings

Load settings of all A>V>C> programs from reg-file. In this case, the old user A>V>C> account can be saved and your licenses will not be overwritten. You can import without any buttons by running the .reg file from Windows Explorer. But this is not recommended, as Windows will take all the settings indiscriminately and will not return the settings to the default values (default values are not stored in the registry and reg file at all).

You can exclude some sections from export and import:

A>V>C> Account

Save the user account to a .reg file when exporting settings and overwrite it when importing. Enable this setting to create a backup. Disable this option if you use export and import shared settings with other users.

Window settings

Save a section with the sizes and arrangement of windows, panels and input forms (those that are not saved by CAD itself). It is recommended to disable if the import will be on devices with different monitor sizes.

Input history

Keep a section with lists of last entered values. It is recommended to disable if other users will be importing.

Auto-update settings

Save and load settings related to the system of automatic A>V>C> software updates.

You can configure when the program will export the settings to a file and import them back into the registry:

Export automatically

Save settings to a .reg file each time you exit the settings dialog and before exiting the program. This way you can back up your settings and synchronize your settings with your other computers or with other users.

Import automatically

Load settings from .reg-file each time you enter the program and when changing the .reg-file. For example, the import will start automatically as soon as another user exports a file in the cloud or on the server.

Import permission request

Ask for permission to import settings when a new .reg file appears. If the option is disabled, then the settings from the file will be imported without warning as soon as a new .reg file is found.

Folder and file name

Path and name of the .reg file for automatically saving and restoring settings. Specify the path on the backup disk, or in the cloud storage folder (Dropbox, Google-disk), or a shared folder on the server of your workgroup.
