Midland Water Snake

A relatively large water snake, the Midland Water Snake will feature a dark corss band on the neck with blotches further back. The markings on the dorsal side will be dark blands and blotches ranging from the neck to above the anus with 30 or less seperated by more than one scale row. The lighter areas between the markins are usually more than 2 and a half scale rows wide with tail markings being complete rings. The general coloration can range from dark brown, gray, red, and blotches may be black. Ventral side markings will be in pairs (Conant and Collins 295).
