Engaging Conservation

ARGUMENTATIVE QUESTION

Since the government has taken over the fort complex, they have aimed to beautify the area with their own standards disregarding the ruins of the fort and only taking some structures and preserving them, that too not in a good way. Not considering the legacy all the structures hold. According to ASI, construction inside the fort is illegal but I guess the rules are bent for the rich, but the people still suffer as the government has dominated over the people. They aren't allowed to renovate their houses at all and they ignore all the complaints from the people. Even the beautification plan has no area for the people to come together as one  or even to spend their leisure time. The historic ruins  make the fort a tourist attraction, but there is not a single thing that makes the tourist engage at any time  , not a place to sit nor a place to rest. There's only one grocery store where you can find some packed snacks and water. So in conclusion, in around 313000 sq.m there is no place to rest and only one small shop to replenish. In what ways will the fort ruins respond to create an engaging environment?

ARGUMENTATIVE DRAWING

Through our argumentative drawing we are showing how when the human construct disappears what remains is the intertwining which actually is what nature is mainly made up of and the nature is more empowering .

PREVIOUS ARGUMENTATIVE DRAWING

SITE

The site that we chose to intervene consists of the existing relationship between the environment and the context indicating how the built and the unbuilt form responds to the climatic as well as the seasonal conditions along with the merging of the landscape with the builtform.

INTENT

To be able to merge the ‘built’ with the surrounding ecology to enable inclusiveness of the landscape condition.

To de-emphasize the physical boundary between ‘structure’ and nature .

To create a cohesive contemporary social relationship and restore the coexistence.

PROGRAM

It's a universal fact that nature constantly evolves and adapts.

The program aspires to take shape likewise; dynamic and accepting changes.

To begin with, the environmental conditions and specific nuances observed on site highlight the program.

The incrementality of the context around shall then define the altering occupancy, shaping the built.

ACTIVITIES

CONCEPTUAL IDEAS

Understanding the environmental condition through the vegetation around also how these micro environmental conditions helps in creating an engaging atmosphere.

Exploring how the form would develop considering the trees as the anchor points.

Expanding the idea of a grid through the existing ruin so that it merges with the landscape and the ruin.

CONCEPTUAL MODEL

Thinking of the space through the model with the elevated spaces around the trees as the altering experiences.

The roots of the trees are not getting damaged by the foundation of the structure. The building takes shape according to the trees and around the trees.
