So much of the time in class, I tuned your guitars! Guess what? Now it's your turn! There are a number of different videos and sources to help you out and I am only a short email away.
Some tips, tricks and videos for tuning your strings if this is new to you and you now have to do it at home! - CLICK HERE
One of the best Apps for guitar tuning (and a few games too!) that I have have found is GuitarTuna - Click here for App Store - Click here for Google Play App. It is also connected to a program call Yousician which can be a great learning tool for guitar, bass, uke, and even vocals! More about that in the weeks to come!
Online Guitar Tuner (all you need is your computer and it's microphone!)
So you left your duotang at school. That wall in the front of the room with all the chords drawn on it is.... well... it's in the front of the classroom! Here's a link to all the chords you'll need and more!
Over the years, there have been some songs that have always been played in Music Exploratory. Most of them are listed here with links to the songs in UltimateGuitar. com. The order is based more so on skill level at this point, with the easier songs at the beginning of the list and harder towards the bottom.
Things to remember:
Transpose - Once you click on the link, you may have some chords that are not easy for you. Click "TRANSPOSE -1" along the bottom margin. This will change all the chords by one 1/2 step. This may make it easier or even harder. Keep clicking and the chords will keep changing (they will keep transposing). Stop when you find the set up you feel most comfortable with. From there you have two choices:
Just play the chords you see. It may sound higher or lower than the recordings you hear though since you have changed the chords on the site. This is still okay if you are just looking to play yourself (and you can sing that high or low!).
Use a Capo (that clip looking thing that attaches across the neck of your guitar over all the strings). If your song now says "Transpose -3", put your Capo across the 3rd fret and then begin to play the chords you see. REMEMBER, with a capo, all your chords will be set up BELOW the capo as the capo acts as a new nut to the guitar.
Too hard? Click SIMPLIFY - This will change all those chords that look complicated (C/G) to simpler versions (C)
Still too hard? DO YOUR BEST and remember to have some fun!
Sometimes it's just more fun to play with others! Here's a couple backing tracks from YouTube to experiment with. Feel free to send me links of others that you may use and I'll put them up here!
