This year we celebrate Halloween on Monday, October 31, 2022. It is one of the oldest holidays in the west. Halloween begins with the ancient Celtic festival known as Samhain. We believe that on the day that we celebrate Halloween the soul of the dead will return to their home. We celebrate Halloween because we wrap up the spirits by costumes of different kinds of characters and do light bonfires. We also commemorate life and death. On Halloween we can do things like trick or treating, and tour a haunted house or other fun activities. On October 31, people dress themselves up and go house to house asking for food or money. Now the child will dress themselves up and go house to house and ask for candies, that is what trick or treat will look like. Tour a Haunted House you need to find a haunted house with activity that is not faint of heart and near you, and then you can play by yourself or find a group of friends and play together! We can eat candy corn, drink apple cider, and eat donuts. Here is my suggestion: what can you customize this Halloween; skeleton, pumpkin, superheroes, princess, and witch. The other activities you can do during Halloween are watching some Halloween movies, say scary stories, and decorating your house with black, white, yellow, and orange. There are animals that relate to Halloween, they are:Halloween crab, witch flounder, ghost-faced bat, Halloween snake, pumpkin bug, bearded ghoul, and ghost shark. Did you know trick or treat comes from the soul? Did you know candy corn's original name is chicken feed? Did you know that the White House is haunted? Halloween is very fun and you can wear what you want to wear during Halloween, and you can also wear it to school!

If you don't get it then:
Do you know which holiday is coming up? It’s Halloween! Halloween begins on Monday, October 31st this year. On Halloween, we wear different costumes and go to stores or neighborhoods to get candy. Also, people will buy pumpkins to make pumpkin pie. People will also decorate their doors by using light, pumpkins, and more. We celebrate Halloween because Halloween’s origins are the Ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. On that day, the souls of the dead return to their homes, so people wear costumes to ward off ghosts or spirits. On Halloween, children will go door to door and say “treat or trick”, then people will hand out candy. The word Halloween comes from “All Hallows Eve'' and begins before the evening of November. People have celebrated Halloween for over 2,000 years. Happy Halloween to everyone!
Good Ol' Hallows Eve and its many Traditions
From Trick or Treating to wearing Costumes, where did these even come from? Well we will begin with Halloween itself which originally was a celebration to celebrate the end of the harvest and the end of the summer starting the beginning of the dark winter, back then that represented death, Halloween had different a meaning, while Halloween now is celebrated by people mostly kids dressing in costumes and going out and trick or treat, Samhain (Which it was called back then) was celebrated by lighting up bonfires, where people would gather, where they sacrifice their own crops and animals, the Celts (The people that celebrated Samhain), believed in a lot of things, they thought that the future could be told by the vast spirited presents.
The Christians preserved the Samhain traditions in the west by christianizing it like most pagan holidays. Along the centuries, new developments were made to the Samhain traditions. Most modern day traditions of Halloween come from Ireland, when many Scottish and Irish immigrants came to America. It became a major holiday! In Cajun, there are nocturnal masses in cemeteries, where families stand by graves placing candles that were blessed, originally confined with these people. More and more people of race, social and religious backgrounds began practicing this by the 20th century and with American influence, more and more countries picked up these traditions in the late 20th to early 21st centuries.
Trick or Treating like we know it know was a whole lot different, In England, Catholics and Protestants knocked door to door and beg the rich for money for prayers, Scotland and Ireland had something similar where children would dress up in costumes and go door to door asking the people for money and food. Reportedly, there was some cases about this "ritual" in America, one in Chicago and an earlier one where cases were reported of children knocking on doors for money or food. The first time the term "Trick or Treating" was used in Canada in 1927.
Costumes, again came from Ireland and Scotland, The reason why costuming became popular in America is because of Adults dressing up in the 20th century along with the "trick or treating" tradition where children participated.
Many of today's holiday traditions came from the Gaelic Cultures of Scotland and Ireland, with Halloween changing and changing throughout is long life from the Celtic Days to the Modern Day and now it has become one for the most loved days in America.
Fall
-Fall is when leaves are changing colors and when the temperature gets colder and colder with strong winds. Potatoes, pumpkins, apples, squash, spinach and cabbages are some examples of what grows during the fall season. How did fall get its name? Many people call it a different name around the world, like to say autumn or fall, they are mainly the same thing. The word “fall” is mainly used in America and it came from a leaf falling to the ground. The word “autumn” came from the latin word “autumnus” which means the passing of the year and then in the future, we will use it as autumn. Many things happen in fall like different types of food grows during this time, most animals act differently, and there are many holidays!
- Different types of food like pumpkins, squash, spinach, apples and more. The type of food that grows more during fall is vegetables.
