International Day of Women and Girls in Science
February eleventh is the official day for Women and Girls in Science. Females are underrepresented in science and technology fields, and with the social barriers and expectations of women staying at home, girls are less likely to study science and technology. The United Nations General Assembly engaged in raising awareness for educational activities to promote full and equal access for women and girls in science. Every year on February 11th, the United Nations hosts an assembly to promote and increase the participation of girls and women in STEM. Overall, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science increases and continues to improve equality, diversity, and fairness.
