Gather around with family or friends and watch some fireworks! You don't necessarily need to watch, you can also do your own fireworks, just make sure whenever you light it up, always stay far enough away from the fireworks! Some safer options are sparklers. It's much safer for kids and you won't risk blowing them up!
> Family Reunion:
Take time off to relax and spend quality time with your family. Oftentimes families are busy with their jobs and don’t have enough time to bond with their relatives causing many kids to neglect their other relatives. However, during Chinese New Year, while taking some time off, come together and catch up on things and do different activities together in honor of a new year.
> Give & Receive Red Envelopes:
Want money? Gather around to give each other money for the new year!
The red envelope symbolizes good wishes and brings luck for the future and wealth!
They are to be given to younger kids (or adults that aren't married yet!)
by adults and the elderly.

The Lunar New Year occurs most widely in China, South Korea, Vietnam, and countries with a significant overseas Chinese population. This year, the Lunar New Year is happening on January 22, 2023. Lunar New Year is important in China because they follow what their ancestors left on and keep going to make it happen, and based on their perspective it is also the first day of a new year. Did you know that the Lunar New Year doesn't fall on the same day every year? In 12 years, every year represents an animal, and after 12 years it will repeat the cycle anew. As in the US, Chinese people also set off fireworks at night, to show their happiness.
