ChoreQuest is a short satirical adventure game inspired by classic 2D top-down adventure and role-playing games such as A Link to the Past, EarthBound and Pokemon.
Players take on the role of Yippy McWoof, an aspiring adventurer who has to undertake a seemingly endless series of chores, errands and favours before he can set out on his self-manifested hero's journey.
The game was developed over the course of 9 weeks for Games Studio 2's 'Meaningful Games' project.
I used Mural to map out a visual mood board for the game and also to plan the narrative and quest scenarios for the game.
I used a Gantt Chart template from Smartsheet to help me keep track of tasks and deadlines during the development process.
The game's character, prop and environment sprite assets were designed and created using Piskel.
ChoreQuest was built using the Unity engine and scripted using Visual Studio. The dialogue flowcharts in the game were programmed using the Fungus application.
I've used a simple Google Forms template to conduct a survey on players who have tested the game.
