Driving Question: How can you harness aesthetics and communicate what inspires you to a contemporary audience?
Objective: To improve on your image making techniques and aesthetics.
Idea: I chose to create a piece reflecting the beauty of nature, since I spend a lot of time outdoors, and the impact that we have on climate change. I was also inspired by photo manipulation styles that conveyed elements of surrealism. I love work that draws you in aesthetically and then has you noticing abstract elements.
Deliverables:
1x motion graphics video with audio
3x posters printed A3
I was really inspired by this style below using photography of objects and people to form a dream like surreal alternate reality. I thought that this would look great on the tower and play to my strengths.
I looked into existing processes on platforms like youtube and skill share to see how other people had created similar artwork.
I was originally going to shoot a full body shot of my model and give her three different gowns made of natural elements. I was planning to add wings as well to give a mother nature feel to the piece. After the first screen test, I decided that the best length was 3/4 as I could focus on more details that would really show on the screen.
I had my photo shoot in week 7 where I hired out Chris Huzzard Studio in the city and used two different lighting setups to capture my model in multiple different poses.
The studio I used had access to two back drops - a light and dark. It was also equipped with a sink, change room, makeup room and multiple stands and boxes which came in handing when positioning my model and the fans.
I created a list of items that related to my theme and then collected all of my assets from royalty free sites such as pexels and unsplash.
Brief: Create a campaign for plant based ice-cream product - Oatly to increase the presence of their brand in Australia.
Concept: Floats your oat is a play on the saying 'That really floats my oat' in an attempt to appeal to an Australian audience. The oats are surfing the ingredients through the waves of the ice-cream. I have illustrated assets such as the oat characters, strawberries, chocolates, mint leaves and sun beds. I used photo manipulation to turn a photograph of ice-cream into a birds eye view beach scene responding to Australia's surfing culture.
