Oliver, a naïve, heartbroken young man is thrown into the adventure of a lifetime when presented with the opportunity to go back in time and
un-do the breakup that 'ruined his life'. His travels bring him face-to-face with a wacky professor, his ex-girlfriend, and... himself?
We’ve all been there. One specific interaction, event, or moment in our lives that we wish we could undo. We wish we could change the outcome of. Despite knowing clearly what we learned from it, we still ponder that lingering “what if…” One More Day is an opportunity to explore that. It’s a comedy that pokes fun at various tropes whilst maintaining a genuine human story and heart, exploring a central theme of letting go.
Ultimately, it’s a story of self-improvement: recognising the growth you have had since an unfavourable event, with the help of those around you. The time travel twist is a direct response to Oliver’s “need” to have one more day with Emma, serving as a vice: enabling him to give in to his weakness and send him down a path that feeds into his obsessive nature, but also through the use of leaning into the tropes and clichés associated with the concept, allows his future self to serve as both a roadblock and mentor to set Oliver back on the correct path.
I’ve always loved stories that take a lighthearted approach to more serious subject matter - being influenced by the likes of Taika Waititi and Edgar Wright, I’ve wanted to take on this style of comedic storytelling with genuine undertones for quite some time. The story of One More Day draws on my own personal struggles with mental health and relationships, (falsely) pinning a lot of my struggles on one event and frequently saying to my friends, “I wish I could go back in time and undo that”. I failed to recognise the growth and change I had undergone as a direct result of it, and only after being given perspective on the issue by those closest to me, did I realise the many shortcomings that led to that event. I wanted to translate this into a film, to give people going through similar experiences something to hold on to. I chose to parody the sci-fi genre and lean into tropes not only for the comedic value, but also for the audiences’ benefit: rather than getting bogged down by reading too much into the scientific “rules” of aspects such as time travel, it allows them to quickly connect to the characters and story; shifting their focus to the central themes and heart of the film.

PRODUCTION DESIGN
Dillon Beaman is currently learning to be a filmmaker at SAE. He has always had an interest in film. When he was younger he would always film in his backyard with his friends. He would also think about movie ideas and write them down from start to finish. His love of film came from being exposed to films that were above the recommended movie rating for his age. From that it opened a door into him having years of imaging well thought out ideas for film. The role that he gets drawn to is the director and cinematographer. He has also been on the other side of the camera, having done stage acting for most his life, so he has a good understanding for the grind and taxing nature of acting. He has directed and edited a documentary film about manhood during his year 12 year. The documentary was about "what it means to be a man" , of which Dillon went out and interviewed men on their view of manhood. He has recently directed a short film that he wrote himself called 'Continuity'. This short film is about breaking a man reality by introducing film concepts such as Continuity and Meta.
EDITOR
During high school, Sean learned how to use Sony Vegas and used this newfound power to make terrible meme videos. But once that era was over, he decided that he wanted to use and improve his skills for something better (money). One More Day is the first original film he has edited and composited VFX for, and aimed to show off it's comedic and abstract journey into love and the mind.
