Waking up in an Underwater Lab with the Alarms sounding you need to find the way out
- S t o r y a n d a e s t h e t i c -
It all starts with you waking up in your room and hearing the Alarms sounding all around you you don't know what has happened or what is going on but as you progress forward you hear deep growling sound reverberating and the doors shutting and sealing behind you, when you get to the end of the hallway there is water on the floor and several room are locked with the access panels damaged you need to find the Key cards around the place to progress and move forwards in an attempt to get out of the lab alive.

Our goal with this project is to create a sense of Anxiety and Paranoia in the Player as they move through the level with sounds coming from outside in the water, the light flashing and the scene getting worse as the player progresses with no clue about what is really going on or what has happened to cause the situation.

Environmental Artist3D Hardsurface modellerMy role as an Environmental artist in Escape from the Deep is to model and texture all the indoor assets and position them around the levels.
The assets I modelled for Escape from the Deep are as follows: shelf, office chair, plants, doors, key card, key card scanner, computer set up, lab equipment, fluorescent lights, tables, folder and lab bench.
When I finish modelling I will UV unwrap my assets and make sure that there is minimal texture wastage and no distorted areas present.
After I UV unwrap my models I will bake and apply textures to the asset in Substance Painter. During this time I will use filters and generators to add more details to the textures e.g. rust on tri door and water droplets on plant.
Once I am happy with the textures I will export them into these listed texture maps depending on the model:

Roughness
Ambient occlusion
Metallic
Emission
Opacity
Normals
Once the texture maps are exported I will then implement both the texture maps and models into Unreal Engine 4; applying the respective texture maps to their corresponding model's material.
