Over the course of this modules timeline we aimed to develop our audio recording skills and knowledge of multiple Digital Audio Workstations (DAW's) by undertaking recording and mixing projects. With a focus on meeting client briefs we have analysed sound recordings and created multiple mixes using balance, pan, equalisation, automation and FX processing. Throughout this showcase you will experience the culmination of 13 weeks of dedicated work from multiple students enrolled in the Studio 2 module. The primary showcase is an interactive demonstration of student work from Project 1 of this trimester while the secondary show case demonstrates Nathan Marchant's recording and mixing skills that were required for the second project of this trimester.

I am now half way through studying a Bachelor of Audio. Previous to SAE, I spent the last 10 years writing, recording and touring with many bands as most notably Old Blood, Ruby May and Kaitlin Keegan. In the last few years I felt that I had more to offer the music community than just being an instrumentalist and related to the enthusiasm in which muscian speak about the sacred time in the studio. My aim is to develop my skillset as an engineer so that I can collaborate and further generate creativity within my music community, allowing muscian to explore the studio space as an integral part of the creative process. I am also aiming to transition into the areas of foley & sound design so as to collaborate in new spaces such a film and game.
My hope for this showcase is to demonstrate the diversity of talent and dedication of this years cohort. As you listen and interact with the student work I hope that each persons individual process translates through the headphones, potentially inspiring you creatively also. Even if you don't feel that effect, I hope you can find enjoyment in our work as we certainly enjoyed ourselves creating it. I have submitted a fake "clavinet" sound as a harmonic instrument. This was created by multisampling a Yamaha CS-10 as this could generate a hollow tone similar to analogue keyboards. I then processed this with an auto wah to get that authentic clavinet tone.
I'm taking a Bachelor of audio production at SAE Creative Industry Perth in 3 Trimester. Motivated, adaptable, and responsible in music production and audio production. I have audio production skills in mixing-mastering, creating sample packs, sound design, studio recording, live sound setup, and soundtracks.
My Sample Pack
Mostly are ambient, some chord progression, some sample beat drums, and how I can demonstrate the composition of music into the DAW, and how I can produce good and balanced sound.
I am a passionate young leader that takes great interest in activism and social justice. I have spent much of my young adulthood working in the professional world, as well as keeping up my studies and continuing my personal passions in music, design and skateboarding. I see myself as a compassionate, generous and charismatic person with strong values in equity, autonomy and respect. No matter where my interests have taken me, I always fall back to wanting to work in the music industry. I know I have the determination and persistence to study and I am looking forward to having my passion turned into a profession.
I’m an aspiring audio engineer and currently studying my bachelor of Audio (studio production) as SAE Institute in Perth.
I’m Driven to record and mix local bands and start up artist while learning to specialise in mixing live performances from venues. I’ve had a passion for music for a long time, starting out playing drums since I was ten and soon after learning to play guitar, piano and vocals.
After having a taste of how audio productions works, I’m driven to create projects, loving being exposed to as many techniques and approaches as I can. I create music with Pro-Tools, Ableton Live Suite 11 and Logic Pro X.
My Sample Pack
From our first project this trimester, we were assigned to create three of our own Ableton Sound Packs from scratch. I’ve created them based on three separate genres: Lo-fi, Indie Rock & 90’s Hip Hop I’m presenting the Indie Rock Sound Pack loaded with sounds based from artists such as The Strokes, Nirvana, The White Stripes & The Killers
I am 22 years old and currently studying the bachelor of audio at SAE Perth. I'm from a small town south of Bunbury called Boyanup and I enjoy doing a lot of things in my spare time like skating, playing video games and going to the beach to name a few. Some of my goals and aspirations for the future are to become a fully qualified sound engineer, work with clients on mixdowns, produce my own music to be shared to the world and even dabble in other audio work for industries such as film and games.
My Sample Pack
For this sample pack I decided to start with the drums first, following along to the brief given to me by the music students. I processed most of my drums in the Ableton drum rack and I was going for a lofi / squid game type kit. Pretty much all of my processing was done using the Ableton audio effects and really no other 3rd party plugins, this goes for the actual instruments as well. The only exception was the cute synth sound which I actually used the ozone vinyl plugin to get the lo-fi buzz sound on it, after this I then proceeded to set it up on the sampler so it was playable without the 3rd party plugin.
