Hello my name is Jaylah Schriever. I'm part of the Yearbook & Communications class, and I love to be creative when creating the pages for the yearbook. On this blog, I'll be sharing stories about important things that interest my classmates.Â
Outside of class, I enjoy going to sporting events that are happening and reading my books. I'm excited to keep you updated on what's happening in our school and community!

According to the article dated on June 11, 2024 by Psychology Today “our names can shape not only perceptions of us but also our personalities.” With that information I decided to make a survey asking people about their names. I asked three questions and they were; What is your first name?, What is the meaning of your first name?, and finally Do you think your first name fits your personality?Â
My personal response to this is; My name is Jaylah. The meaning of my name signifies beauty, freedom, and limitless possibilities, as represented by jay birds. I believe that my name definitely fits my personality.

The Beelar Cabin was home to Marble Rock's Jacob Beelar and was established in 1852. Beelar first came to what would be Floyd County in 1851, he then built a 16-foot by 16-foot log cabin. After living in the cabin for eight years he ended up dying. At that time Marble Rock was called Beelar's Grove. I love the Beelar Cabin because they always have fun stuff to do there like doing the winter they have hot chocolate and cider along with desserts for the public. It is also just a great way to learn about what is in a log cabin and how everything works.
I asked Jamie Schriever, who is a part of the Marble Rock community three questions involving the Beelar Cabin.
Question 1: How did you first come across this place?
Response: "When they moved it from it's original location it was moved to across the alley way from us."
Question 2: What do you like most about it?
Response: "I like how they have it set up to what it would originally look like."
Question 3: What role does it play in our community?
Response: "It brings people into our community, who will also tour the other historical buildings."
In conclusion I think that the Beelar Cabin is a very valuable place for the community, it is not only a nice place to learn more history about the cabin itself, but it also a great way to get more attraction to the small town called Marble Rock. If you haven't yet stopped when it's open and take I look I highly suggest you should the next time you are going through Marble Rock.

Today I interviewed Angie deBuhr who is an administrative Staff member. She answered 3 questions that were given to me.
Q: What's your favorite part of working in the school office?
A: "Seeing all of the kids."
Q: How do you handle busy or stressful days?
A: "Listen to music, and try to make a list of stuff that is needed to be done."
Q: What's one memorable interaction you've had with a student?
A: "I went into the kindergarten classroom and a student stood up and said "There's Angie, she's my best friend."
In conclusion I really thought it was neat the way she handles her stressful days. When learning what she does I want to take that into consideration and maybe try doing that when I am stressed.

Q: When/where they went.

Q: What has changed about prom since you went?
A: "The style of dresses, some boy's attire has become more casual, always had to get ourselves to after prom, our grand march was in the multi-purpose room, while the dance was in the big gym, we also had a dinner before grand march."
I found an article called "The Main Reason Why Prom is Important to People." from the source The Clinton Courier, and was published March 28, 2022. In this article there were a couple of statements that stood out to me, they were that; Prom is definitely a milestone for many people. It's the end of high school and the beginning of adulthood. Prom is a memorable time spent with friends. Prom is important because it's a milestone in life. It is also something to look back on and remember when you get older.
The first thing that I thought about was what prom meant to me. It didn't take me long to think about what it meant to me because I am able to spend the night with my friends and I get to dance. Some things that I am looking forward to about prom are seeing everyone's dresses, and I am really looking forward to grand march.

When the final school bell rings at 3:30, most kids do not stop learning. Many go out to their extracurricular activities and continue to learn more and more about those activities. These activities aren't just a way to pass time, but it's an amazing tool to build confidence and leadership along with teamwork.Â
I spoke with Danika deBuhr who is an 11th grade student at RRMR that is involved in a lot of extracurricular activities.
Q: What do you enjoy most about being involved in extracurricular activities?
A: "Being with my friends."
Q: How have participating in these activities impact your school experience?
A:Â "It has made it better."
Q:What advice would you give incoming students who are wanting to join these activities but aren’t quite sure?
A: "Just do it cause you never know."

For me I am one who is involved in a lot of different activities. I have learned a lot about building many skills during these activities and hope that others can learn too. I have grown mentally stronger from being in these activities and have also learned how to balance my plate.
