I’m part of the Yearbook & Communications class, and I enjoy art and creativity based classes. On this blog, I’ll be sharing stories about all kinds of things, I'm not really gonna settle on one thing!
Outside of class, I enjoy art and listening to music. I’m excited to keep you updated on what’s happening in our school and community!

This week I wanted to write on my blog about map testing at RRMR. They are standardized tests that all students at some point have to take throughout elementary and high school. Students have all different kinds of opinions on these tests. I interviewed Paetyn Reicks about her own personal view points on these tests;
Q: How do you feel about map testing?
A: "I feel like they're important but they shouldn't reflect a kids skills, early release time."
Q: Do you think it's necessary?
A: "I think its necessary but they need to change the material they give, like update it every year, or change it."
Q: What are the downsides of it in your opinion?
A: " I feel like the downsides are the pressure that the school gives kids to get proficient and then punish the kid for getting not proficient or missing a few marks even with the combination some kid."
I agree with a lot of points she made during this interview. I also think they don't reflect a student's academic skills. The tests more reflect how they feel that day.
The pressure these tests put on students is also very real. Especially if they have open campus, it makes them motivated to do well yes but it can also make them feel worse if they don't do good once.
Overall I think map testing is something we could do well without because its subjective depending on the student, or the students mental state.

Today I interviewed 3 different people and asked about their 3 different experiences during prom season.
I asked my mom, Amanda Muller, about her high school prom experiences and she had a lot to say about it and some great advice.
She attended prom in 2000 with my dad (the guy in the picture) She said one of her favorite things that night was getting ready with her , dancing and laughing with her friends. She said her overall experience was really great and that prom is what you make it.
Her advice for kids now attending prom is; "Just relax and enjoy it! Put away the drama, laugh a lot and really just enjoy the time with your friends. Make memories and enjoy being a teenager."
I had to interview a student who wouldn't be attending prom, and after asking around I came across Eva Litterer. She said that she would've liked to attend this year, but was unable because of poor timing and procrastination.
Her advice for all those attending prom is to have fun!
I interviewed one of Rockford's seniors , Maggie Buseman. Her plans for prom this year's prom is to make it through the night. When I asked her why she wanted to go and she said she didn't really know, just felt like attending for fun.
Overall everyone's prom experiences are different and unique. Hope everyone reading has a good prom weekend!
For this week's post I interviewed my friend Kylie Crowe about her favorite teacher!
Q: What's your favorite teacher?
A: "Definitely Miss Osmonson"
Q: What lesson did she teach you that you will never forget?
A: "Its important to stay true to yourself."
Q: How did she inspire you?
A: "By pushing me to be creative and to not care what others think."
During this interview I came to agree with Kylie on how Ms. Osmonson is a great teacher. She does a good job with making students feel relaxed and at home at school.
I had the absolute pleasure of interviewing my amazing sister Grace Muller about her time working during spring break.
Q: "Where did you work? And for how long?"
A: "Over spring break I worked around 3-5 hours a day for my dad at a hog building."
Q: "What did you do while you were there? How was it?"
A: "I did mostly daily chores and loaded out the hogs on the 10th and 11th. Was hard and tiring work, makes me appreciate what my dad does. That being said, it was more rewarding than taking a whole week off of anything, and I felt more accomplished at the end of the day , than if I had just sat around all break."
We interviewed Miss Fox, RRMR’s new art teacher! She’s a previous student from RRMR and has been going to college the past few years, learning to be an elementary school teacher. Her journey teaching started at the University of Iowa in 2021. She spent almost 2 years there before moving up to the University of Northern Iowa. She is currently a student there while working full time at our school, with only a year left before she graduates in 2026.
The opportunity for this position was given to her when she was doing observation hours with Mrs. Paulus. Mrs. Butler came in and asked if she wanted to, and she (somewhat) jokingly said she'd talk to Mr. Johnson about it. Then the same day she applied for the daycare job here, Mr. Johnson came to her and asked her to substitute.
This is her first semester teaching ever, so we asked her what her favorite part (so far) of teaching was. She said one of her favorite things is the students. She enjoys working with kids and being able to help them with their art. She works hard to make sure her students are confident in their art and enjoy the class.
While Miss Fox does enjoy the majority of her work here, she did mention a few things she’s been challenged with. She told us the hardest class for her so far has been Ceramics. She expressed she doesn't really know how to do it herself because she hasn't taken any art classes through college. She said that Pinterest is her biggest helper when working in that class.
She says that this subbing experience so far has made her consider teaching more art classes in the future. Her overall goal, though, is that she wants to work with younger students as an elementary teacher.
