My name is Brekken Schlader and I am part of the Yearbook & Communications class and love doing surveys to see other people's interests. On this blog, I'll be sharing topics about people's lives in sports and outside of school. Outside of class, I enjoy spending time with family and exercising. I'm excited to update you on what's happening in our school and community.

I feel that fitness and exercise are becoming ever more popular and are being taken as serious hobbies. I wanted to explore this in my own school to see if others are interested in fitness and exercise.
After sending out a survey that asked the questions above, I have learned that many people in my school do actually exercise. I learned that almost half of the people who do exercise, do it for a sport. The sports people are in and how people see themselves is largely what motivates people to exercise. Fitness and exercise are important to people because of the sports they participate in, and because it has become a hobby for many people that they enjoy doing.
People in my school are all relatively new to exercising consistently. Many people enjoy training their back muscles the most along with arms coming in second. Many people are proud of their fitness journey and most proud of their consistency, their results, and their weight loss journey.
After completing this survey, I have learned that my classmates also train, and train for sports. A lot of people see the many benefits of regular exercise and are proud of those benefits they’ve earned. I am proud of everyone for staying consistent and disciplined with their training.

I interviewed 4 students from my school. I asked each student the following question; "What is your favorite season of the year?"
Ashton said his favorite season was Summer.
Gage said his favorite season was also Summer.
Caleb said his favorite season was summer too.
Zoey said her favorite season was fall.
I was not very surprised by the results and I expected Summer to be the most common answer. I did expect fall to be more liked though.

The Historical Museums of Marble Rock are places that preserve the history of the town. They are important to help show the history of the town and people of Marble Rock and how they lived their daily lives.
52 years ago in 1972, a group of citizens established the first Marble Rock historical museum. They wanted to preserve the past to benefit the generations to come.
The first time I went to the Historical Museums, I was around 5 years old. I didn't think much of it then, but as I went back, I appreciated the preservation of history more and more. I learned much of the history of the town, its people, and even my own family tree.
Lilly thinks that the historical museums are important because they tell the history of Marble Rock, which is important. After all, it's good to know what happened before us and what has changed since then.
The Historical Museums are important to the community because they are a place where the whole community can learn, remember, reflect, and come together over the past of the town.
I was tasked with interviewing a school leader of my choice. I chose Wyatt Parcher who is an FFA officer and all all-around role model. The interview went as such;
Q: What leadership roles do you hold at school? A: An FFA officer and a hard working role model.
Q: How do you balance these responsibilities with academics? A: Don't get overwhelmed by work and keep working.
Q: What impact do you hope to make in your role? A: Be a role model for the underclassmen and the Junior High.
Wyatt is succeeding relatively well with his goals, and his answers were all accurate. He is very hard working and can be a great person to look up to for the younger kids on the high school side of the school.

Prom is a really big deal throughout the whole United States, and even in other parts of the world. There are many different things parents and prom goers have to worry about, which include: dresses and tuxedos, a prom group, decorating, dinner, transportation, and more pictures. Over the years, many interesting statistics have emerged from all of the chaos. Did you know that a girl tries on around 10 dresses before she picks one? 15% of girls who go to prom see prom on the same level of importance as their wedding. And $4 billion is estimated to be spent on prom every year.
I am going to prom this year. I think prom is a really nice opportunity to have fun with friends, and spend time with my lady. I look forward to going to prom again next year, picking first for prizes next year, and having a great night again.
Interviews
Charles is not attending prom. I asked him why he isn't going; he said he doesn't feel like it and it's a waste of money. I also asked him if he could change anything what would he change? He said that it shouldn't last as late.
Alex Havranek is attending prom. I asked what prom means to you. He said it doesn't really mean much, just a chance to have fun with friends. He said he was looking forward to the prizes at after prom. He also said that prom is a good time to talk to people he otherwise wouldn't
Taylor Johnson attended prom when she was in high school. She said she remembers going to dinner the most about prom, the level of participation has gone down since she was in high school, and she wishes people would participate more in prom today.
I asked Alex how prom went for him, I asked him about the prizes he won, and if he spoke to anyone new. He said prom was fun and that he had fun with his friends. He won a Snap-On sweatshirt and some gift cards. And he did talk to new people at prom, but doesn't think that they will be friends after.

As our school year is coming closer to an end, there are many students wondering what comes after high school. This brought me to interview our counselor, Mr.Pike, to help shed light onto the issue. From learning from others mistakes, to when people should start thinking about life after high school, Mr.Pike gives insight to many key aspects of graduating. No matter if you're feeling anxious, excited, or curious about life after school, this interview this interview will hopefully give some guidance to your future choices.
Q: What is the biggest mistake people make when planning for life after high school?
A: People don't do enough research for multiple paths, and they don't look into things in the long run, such as what kind of careers can be obtained with specific degrees. High school students should talk to people who have graduated already, to maybe learn from mistakes they have made, without making them themselves. People should also make more than one plan, in case anything fails.
Q: When should kids seriously start thinking about their careers and lives after high school?
A: People normally start having ideas about careers between the 6th and 8th grades. People will naturally find interests that they should explore. These interests will change as kids progress into high school, but you should eventually narrow them down by the time they are in high school. From there, people make a step-by-step plan for moving towards their interests.
Q: What are some lesser-known opportunities and choices that get overlooked by just going straight into a 4-year college plan?
A: There are almost unlimited choices that fit into any specific person's interest. Many of the choices do not require a degree to be successful in. Gap years between high school and college can be helpful to explore paths and save money.
I found this interview helpful because it tells me what I should start doing for my future path. I now know what clearer steps to take to get where I want for myself and my future life. This interview made the very intimidating part of life that is graduating high school feel less scary and more exciting.
For this blog post, I had to ask 5 students about their plans for summer break. I chose to ask a variety of different grades of students to change things up. I myself plan to keep up in the gym, and work as much as I can this summer. I asked each student the following questions
What are you most looking forward to this summer, and why?
Are you planning to try anything new—like a hobby, job, or travel destination—this summer?
Are you traveling anywhere?
What is one goal you have for yourself?
"I am looking forward to the Washington, D.C trip.
" I don't plan on trying anything new."
"I am traveling to Washington, D.C."
"I want to bench press 135 pounds before summer is done."
"I am looking forward to baseball."
"I am going to try driving."
"I travel to Des Moines for baseball tournaments."
"One goal is to hit 5 home runs this year in baseball."
"I am looking forward to baseball."
" I am starting a new construction job."
"No."
"I want to work hard all summer."
"I am looking forward to getting out of school."
"I want to try and find a new job."
"Yes, going to Canada and Spain."
"Get more work done."
" I look forward to getting out of school."
"I am going to start working more often for Sonberg Tree Service."
" I am not planning to travel anywhere."
"I want to start building my house."
