About me: Hi I'm Allee and I'm part of the Yearbook & Communications class, and I love reading. On this blog, I will be sharing stories and information about student mental health. Outside of class I enjoy listening to music. I'm excited to keep you updated on what's happening in our school community! If you or a loved one needs to reach out you can call or text the suicide or crisis lifeline at: 988

Seth Boggess, a former student of RRMR from 2019. Seth Boggess transferred to RRMR in 2016-2017 in 9th grade. When Seth was little one of his biggest dreams was to go into the military, that was until he was diagnosed with Hemophilia which is a rare blood-clot disorder. Soon enough Seth started playing all sorts of video games. He would stay up late and wake up in the afternoon and then go back to playing video games. There was one day Seth and I were in the car while my mom was pumping gas and he turned to me and has said that if you rub your butt on the seat the car will blow up, and as any little kid would, I started crying. But there were also times Seth wasn't so mean or picking on me and let me play video games with him as well. Seth had transferred down to Texas in his Junior year here at RRMR. Once Seth graduated down in Texas he came back to Iowa and started going to NIACC for IT. But on December 21st of 2024, Seth had tragically passed away by suicide, no one knew he was struggling or what caused him to do it. But we now know he isn't struggling anymore. I think it's super important to reach out to someone if you think you are struggling or reach out to someone you know that is struggling. You can change someone's life without even knowing. Seth is the reason I want to help people, to help people understand mental health isn't a joke and it's a very serious thing.
1-28-25: I interviewed five random students, and asked them if they think mental health is important and why.
Hayden Putney: 11
Yes, so I feel good to do things
Maryssa Walker: 10
Yes, because it affects people
Nicole Arndt: 11
Yes, because it affect your emotions and that will affect people around you, like your family. Mental health affects your mindset-one day you can be happy and then next, you can feel sad or have random emotions happening.
Gage Jeremiason: 12
Yes, because it affects people around them
Chloe Miller: 11
Yes, because it affects people
I was pleased with these responses. I agree that mental health is very important as it can affect how you act.
