Pubs and Bars in The Lanes
There are loads of pubs & bars in The Lanes, so we're not going to try to list them all here. Instead we'd just like to point out a few of the more special ones, that have a particular reason to visit
1. The Market Inn - traditional pub from the 1800s, in the heart of the Lanes, with some outdoor seating
2. The Sussex Arms - traditional pub on one of the main squares in the Lanes, with seats outside, standard pub food and sports on the TVs inside
3. Druids Head - 16th century inn with comfy sofas, period fittings, seats outside, simple pub grub and real ales
4. The Pump House - another of the oldest pubs in Brighton, dating to 1766, with cask ales and traditional British food, plus medieval cellars. Called the Pump House because in olden days a hand-operated pump was used to bring sea water to the pub as people believed it had health giving properties
5. BYOC Bring Your Own Cocktails - a unique cocktail experience, hidden away in The Lanes. You bring a bottle or two of spirits and BYOC creatively transform them into amazing cocktails. Great for groups. Must book
6. The Mesmerist - big, buzzy pub with retro, gin palace-inspired decor, plus regular live music, events and DJs. Roof terrace & cocktail making classes!
7. Bohemia - swanky European-style grand cafe bar over 3 floors, with a late-night lounge, glassed-in roof terrace and live jazz
8. Bath Arms - traditional pub from 1868 with exposed brick and old wood floor & bar, offering real ales & homemade British dishes, plus a real log fire
9. The Cricketers - splendid Victorian pub with an elegant upstairs bar named after author Grahame Green, who drank here. Great modern pub food menu and live music in the courtyard every Tuesday and Friday
10. Black Lion - transforms daily from a bustling foodie pub daytimes, to one of Brighton's busiest late-night venues, with live music, DJs & cocktails
11, Lucky Voice - fun karaoke cocktail bar, with private rooms over 3 floors. Great fun for groups and often has great deals on Groupon
12. Seven Stars - Traditional craft brew pub and speciality gin bar with wood floor & leather sofas, offering cask ales, homemade food plus live jazz
13. The Walrus - a labyrinth of eclectically-decorated rooms with open fire, snug and booths, plus a wonderful hidden roof garden. Cosy and intimate pub, lovely food upstairs and fun live music basement 'The Underbelly'
14. Browns Brighton - all day dining wine bar chain, originating from Brighton with lobster nights and afternoon tea in grand cafe setting
15. The Victory - No-nonsense traditional boozer with a tiled facade and outdoor tables, plus great pub grub, real fire and great ales
16. Twisted Lemon - buzzing backstreet cocktail bar, hidden down the alleyway opposite the entrance to Duke's Lane on Middle Street. Happy hour until 9pm every night except Saturdays.
17. No 32 - restaurant that's a vibrant, stylish late bar and club on Fridays and Saturdays playing R&B, hip hop & house. Once a theatre, now a light, elegant dining space with piano for upmarket international dining and jazz
18. Coach House - cosy, quirky bar/restaurant with nice courtyard garden
19. The Hop Poles - Quirky old pub with a big personality - solid pine tables, retro magazine covers and a terrace, plus a varied European food menu
20. Sticky Mike's Frog Bar - live music venue and bar club with dance floor. Performances & events most nights of the week. See whats on this week
