Each week, teachers identify a student as the WOW student of the week. These students are highlighted for going above and beyond in some area. Teachers share the reason with the class. Each student gets a certificate, a coupon for a free donut from Donut Chain and has their picture shared in the flyer.
Note: If your student has dietary preferences that conflict with donuts, let me know and we have some alternatives.
Let's hear it for ...
Corline Jimenez (Ortlieb), Bella Gutierrez (Lawrence), Rion Motohashi-Chow (Wong), Reese Jacob (Hoffman), Olive Herrera (Leonard), Grayson Esquivel (Gonzalez), Lincoln Davis (Blankenship), Luke Driesler (Ramos), Mara Currin (Garcia), Tate Adams (Fano), Summer Park (Kiblinger), Summer Park (Kiblinger), Parker Pitcher (Hanna), Isabella Gianquento (Gill), Layla Castillo (Seitz), Deacon Ranslem (Marasco), Natalie Hernandez (Amaya), Olivia Carrillo (Pipkin), Kamy Gormley (Simmons/Cruz 5th), Joey Edelman Barrow (6th)

Want to go see a baseball game? Why not go with other Wagner Families!
We'd love to see you at the Wagner Open House!
Wagner knows that everybody is different, but that everybody belongs. Some of our friends and family members have Down syndrome. Seven Wagner Wildcats have Down syndrome. World Down Syndrome Day is celebrated each year on 3/21 because people with Down syndrome have a third copy of the 21st chromosome instead of the expected two copies. Chromosomes are shaped like socks, so each year on 3/21 people are asked to "rock their socks" in support and celebration of our friends, family, and community members who have Down Syndrome.
This week students watched one or two videos to help learn about Down syndrome, decorated their own unique sock to add to our celebration wall, and rocked our socks on Friday. Here are a few pics!
You can watch the videos here!
Down Syndrome: Let's Set the Record Straight
Our second graders have been hard at work researching historical figures! On Friday, they hosted Biography Day! They brought their historical figures to life and shared interesting facts and information about their chosen figure. Family and studnet visitors got to hear all about them in a living museum!
Each year, PYLUSD and the Placentia and Yorba Linda Chambers of Commerce partner in Principal for a Day. Chamber representatives come to all of the PYLUSD schools to hear about what makes the school special, what we are working on, and get a glimpse of the school community in action. Our representative was Miss Laurana Tetzlaff from the Miss PYL and Miss PYL Teen organization.
Tuesday was St. Patrick's Day which means it was also green day at Wagner! Check it out!
