Each week, teachers identify a student as the WOW student of the week. These students are highlighted for going above and beyond in some area. Teachers share the reason with the class. Each student gets a certificate, a coupon for a free donut from Donut Chain and has their picture shared in the flyer.
Note: If your student has dietary preferences that conflict with donuts, let me know and we have some alternatives.
Let's hear it for ...
River Meraz-Husted (Lawrence), Frida Miller (Wong), Ira Kanajan (Hoffman), Ezekiel Vejar (Leonard), Audrey Bellemeur (Blankenship), Payton Pitcher (Ramos), Isaac Lezo (Garcia), Jocelyn Bartczak (Fano), Roman Miranda (Kiblinger), Kira Imoto (Hanna), Luke Bucek (Gill), Hailey Kang (Seitz), Camryn Miller (Marasco), James Pigott (Amaya), Clarissa Bracho (Pipkin), Owen Nguyen (Simmons/Cruz), David Velediaz (Cruz/Simmons)
PYLUSD is having a friendly competition between the schools for the month of February! Wagner has been paired with a few of our fellow schools.
Our attendance for February 2025 was 95.2%. How much can we improve our attendance to help bring the cup home to Wagner?
🌟Shout out to Miss Simmons' and Ms. Cruz's 5th grade class for having four days of perfect attendance this week!🌟
We had fun this kindness week and spread extra cheer through the campus. We'd love to share a slideshow with our community. If your child or family participated (or participates this weekend) in any kindness spreading activities, send pictures to kfennema@pylusd.org. Click on the image to view the file.

A couple of highlights:
This is our second annual theater production and we couldn't be more excited!
Student and family feedback last year was overwhelmingly positive!
All students who audition are expected to have a role in the production.
We need parent help! Theater is definitely an example of Wagner coming together.
Production fee is $80, but scholarships are available.
Dear Wagner Instrumental Music Families,
Our Winter Instrumental Music Concert will be held on Wednesday, February 4th in the Esperanza High School Theater. Esperanza High School is located at 1830 N. Kellogg. Dr.
All 4th, 5th, and 6th grade string students will be performing at 6:00pm. String students should arrive at 5:30pm for tuning and seating.
All 5th and 6th grade band students will be performing at 7:15pm. Band students should arrive at 7:00pm for tuning and seating.
For the concert, students should wear nice clothes, similar to what they would wear for a special occasion.
In a music ensemble, every student's participation is equally important. For this reason, it is important that all students attend this event. The students have been working hard and are excited to perform for you.
Thank you,
Mr. Jeff Evans
Mrs. Rebecca Dominguez
We're seeking wonderful parents to serve on the Wagner PTA board! NO experience necessary! Sign up and there will be lots of support! We've had an increase in devices showing up on campus. A friendly reminder about school policy:
Cell phones: Any cell phones should be turned off through the day and stored in student backpacks. Students should not use their phones while on campus.
Smartwatches: Smartwatches should only worn at school if there is a "school mode" which blocks phone, camera, texting, games, and non-time telling functions during the school day.
The school also cannot take responsibility for student devices.
We understand that some families want their children to have access to devices. Please help us by reminding students that any brought devices are not to be used at school. Thank you!

We worked with Segerstrom Center for the Arts to bring The Collaboratory to Wagner for an assembly for our TK-2nd graders. They performed Story Keepers - a show about an unlikely hero who travels into the world of books to defeat a trouble maker changing the stories! They learn the power of reading, imagination, and believing in themselves!
Nice notes, funny jokes, new ways to say hello, inviting others to play, and more! Check out a few snaps of kindness week. Check out a few students who completed the kindness challenge, 5th graders being kind to themselves and each other with some outside reading time, kindness signs, visits, and notes from our 1st and 2nd graders!
Thank you everybody who came out to The Donut Chain for our fundraiser day! We saw lots of wildcats, lots of donuts, and definitely lots of smiles! They even made special Wagner donuts for us!
Wagner participates in Harvest of the Month. Local farms parter with the district to provide a selected item that get sent to schools. Classes that participate receive information about the farm and farmer, information about the fruit or veggie, a whole fruit or veggie for the class, and trying sizes for all of the students.
Preschool is learning all about dinosaurs. They even created their own volcanoes and looked for fossils!
What better way to work through new learning than by modeling it out to understand it. The formulas make more sense with a strong foundation!
