About Yusrah: Yusrah Sanni is a senior from Brooklyn, New York, majoring in Statistics with a minor in Diversity and Inclusion in Health and Human Development. She spent the fall of her senior year in Rabat, Morocco, through the IES Abroad: Study in Rabat program. While abroad, she immersed herself in Arabic Language studies and took courses exploring cultural identities and social change across the North African region. She also interned at a local NGO community health center, where she contributed to data entry and gained insight into how community-based organizations support public health efforts. Throughout the semester, she visited several cities across Morocco, gaining a richer understanding of the country's cultural diversity.
Advice to Prospective Education Abroad Students: I encourage all students to consider an education abroad program, even if you think it's "too late" or you are unsure where to go. My advice is to look beyond the traditional study abroad destinations and choose a nontraditional location. You will often find deeper connections with locals and a more authentic immersion in the community and environment. Studying abroad can be transformative at any point in your college journey, and I am here to help you explore your options and navigate the process with ease.
