Guidelines Regarding Food for School Parties/Celebrations
Birthday celebrations – No food treats are allowed in school for any birthday celebrations. Birthdays are special to students. If parents would like their child to share something with his/her class in honor of his/her birthday, here are some suggestions: a book, playground equipment, or rainy day game for the classroom collection, pencils/erasers for classmates, or a plant to plant in school garden if there is one. Teachers may also choose other ways to acknowledge these days, such as allowing student be the line leader, student of the day, or being teacher’s helper for a day. Parents will not be allowed to send toys, flowers, or balloons etc. to students in their classrooms. Any deliveries will be returned to the sender.
For full details, please see the PUSD website.
Please join us on Thursday, October 31st at 8:35 on the basketball courts to watch the school parade. Please click here for more information and guidelines on appropriate costuming.
School Safety - After school, the main gate will be closed from 3:15 - 4:00. This is done to keep people from entering campus while students are on campus. Club organizers are responsible for walking students to the gate after the club finishes.
Morning Routines: Tips to Ease the Morning Madness
If mornings feel like a race against the clock, you’re in good company. Many parents find themselves wishing for just a few extra minutes! Mornings can quickly turn chaotic when preparing for school. Here are some morning tips that may help calm your household.
Prepare the Night Before: Lay out clothes, pack lunches, and have backpacks ready to minimize morning tasks.
Take Deep Breaths: When you feel overwhelmed, pause for a moment and take a few deep breaths. This simple practice can help you regain focus.
Establish a Consistent Wake-Up Time: Consistency is key when it comes to morning routines. Set a regular wake-up time, even on weekends, to help your child’s body adjust. This will make waking up easier over time.
Design a Visual Schedule: Create a visual morning schedule that outlines each step of the routine. Use pictures or simple icons to represent tasks like brushing teeth, getting dressed, and eating breakfast. This can help your child feel more in control.
Make Breakfast Fun: Incorporating fun into breakfast can help motivate your child to get up and eat. Consider involving them in meal prep, letting them choose between two options.
Set Realistic Expectations: Understand that things won’t always go perfectly. It’s okay to embrace the chaos sometimes!
End the Morning on a Positive Note: Make it a habit to end your morning routine with a positive affirmation or a brief moment of connection. A quick hug or saying, “I love you, have a great day!” can help your child start their day with confidence.
Unity Day~ Wednesday October 23rd: As part of Bullying Awareness Month, Vintage Hills is celebrating Unity Day. Students should wear orange on Unity Day to represent our commitment to unite for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion to prevent bullying.
