Important Attendance Reminder
Are you planning a family trip for the upcoming holidays? As you begin to make arrangements, please be mindful of the importance of sending your student to school every day possible. Each year, absences spike in the weeks before and after the holiday breaks, yet teaching and learning occur right up to the start of and immediately following the Thanksgiving and Winter breaks.
While we recognize that holidays are an important time for reconnecting with family near and far, we know that even a few missed days can add up to too much lost learning time, potentially putting your student at risk of falling behind in school. This is as true in kindergarten as it is in high school. We appreciate your collaboration in supporting your students with regular and timely attendance.
TK/KINDERGARTEN/NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION
New Student Enrollment for the 2023-2024 school year will begin on February 6, 2023. Please visit the New Student Enrollment Page for details on the new student enrollment process.
The Student Services Department will be hosting an in-person TK/Kindergarten Parent Information Night at Fairlands Elementary on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, from 6:30-7:30 pm in the MultiPurpose Room. There will also be a virtual option presented on Thursday, January 26, 2023 from 6:30-7:30pm.
Please visit the PUSD Website for the student eligibility dates for our Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten programs.
Not Feeling Well?
Since we are entering cold & flu season, please take steps to keep our community healthy.
Should your student develop cold or flu symptoms, make sure to test TWICE for Covid. Free Covid test kits are available in the school offic. If the first test is negative, test again 24-48 hours later (even if symptoms are resolving and your student returns to school after the first negative test). Low amounts of virus early in infection can sometimes be missed by a test, and the test can be positive a few days later.
Stay home when not feeling well. There are a lot of viruses going around, and you don’t want to spread them, even if they are not Covid-related.
Wear a mask if you have any symptoms while around others.
As the weather continues to get colder and rainy season begins, we anticipate more students wearing coats and bringing umbrellas to school. Please remember to LABEL all items sent to school with your child's name. Students can look for their lost items by the front office before and after school.
CHILDREN'S PANTS NEEDED
The health office is in need of elastic waist pants and shorts. Accidents happen and we try to have a selection of spare clothes available. Please consider donating any pants or shorts your child may have outgrown. You can drop them off in the front office. Anything size 4T through 14/16 with an elastic waistband would be appreciated.
