California School Parent Survey (CSPS)
Parents, please complete the Vintage Hills School Parent Survey
Parent involvement is a Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) State priority. This short survey provides a means to confidentially obtain:
parent perceptions about the school's learning environment
school climate
student supports
parent outreach and involvement efforts (e.g., how welcoming, communicative)
It also provides data on the scope and nature of parent involvement at the school (relationships, activities) and in the child's education in general.
CSPS identifies which needs and concerns of parents schools should address in promoting greater involvement. Asking parents to provide their perceptions of the school is an empowering parent-involvement activity.
Calling all baseball players!
Registration for the spring 2024 season of Pleasanton Little League Baseball has begun, and we would like to spread the word about the Challenger Division, an adaptive baseball program open to individuals ages 5 and up who have physical and/or intellectual challenges. Participation in this program is absolutely free of cost.
To register, click HERE and scroll towards the bottom of the page; the "Challenger - Minors" option is the second-to-last on the list (there is also a Senior Challenger division open to players over 18). Games are played at Dublin Sports Park and other Little League fields in the Tri-Valley on Sunday afternoons beginning in March and ending in early June. Each year our Little League District 57 hosts the annual Challenger Jamboree on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend - a fun tournament with over 20 Challenger teams representing Little League programs from around the Bay Area.
We hope you will join us this Spring!

Attendance
All students are expected to attend school and be on time each day that classes are in session. For any absence, please call the school office and leave a message on the 24-hour Attendance Line: (925) 417-8097. Please state and spell the child’s name, the teacher’s name, and the reason for absence. It is not enough to notify the classroom teacher.
If a student is marked absent and we have not received a call, you will receive an email notifying you of the absence. Absences not excused by the parent within 72 hours may result in a truancy letter. Children must be fever, vomit, and diarrhea-free for 24 hours (without medication) prior to returning to school. Prolonged illness or communicable diseases should be reported to the school office as soon as it is diagnosed.
Please note that clearing an absence or tardy does not necessarily mean the absence is excused. Pursuant to California Education Code, a student's absence may only be marked excused for the following reasons:
● Illness, Medical Appointment
● Court-Religion
● Funeral (for immediate family members - one day if in California, three days if out of California)
● Independent Study Contract
Independent Study Contract
In Pleasanton Unified, we believe it is imperative that your student attends school regularly. Lost classroom instructional time is difficult, if not impossible to replace. However, if you find that you need an extended absence of three (3) to fifteen (15) school days during the school year, you can request a Short Term Independent Study Contract. The contract assists in preventing your child from falling behind and gives your child attendance credit.
Parents/Guardians notify school administration at least 10 school days prior to the absence. School Administrators have the final decision to approve or not approve a request for a student to leave school on an Independent Study Contract. Per California Education Code, Independent Study Contracts are only issued to students who will be absent for a minimum of 3 school days and a maximum of 15 school days. After 16 school days, due to our impacted schools, PUSD cannot guarantee your child will return to the same classroom or the same school.
Stay Home if Sick
Please keep your child home if they are not feeling well. Please do NOT send your child to school if:
They have had Vomiting or Diarrhea within the last 24 hours
They are exhibiting cold symptoms. Please keep home during period of productive cough and yellow or green nasal discharge
They have a fever over 100 degrees. They must be fever free for 24 hours (without the aid of Tylenol or Advil)
If they have red, swollen, crusting or draining eyes
They have untreated, draining ears or earache
A severe sore throat
Medications at School
Please do not send medications to school with your child. This includes ALL over the counter medication, even cough drops. If you have a student that will require medication at school, please make sure that we have the correct Medication Consent form for the current school year. This applies to prescribed and over-the-counter medication. For more information please visit the Health link.
For any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to me Joelle Bailey and thank you for helping us keep our school healthy.

Please join us to provide valuable input, learn something new, or just connect with your student's school community.

Fun Family Activities for the month of November
Prepare favorite family food. Help your child learn more about your heritage by preparing a traditional food.
Try a new vegetable. The next time you're at the store, have your child choose a new vegetable they have never eaten to prepare together.
Give back. Find one volunteer activity you and your child can do together. Even if you just have an hour to give, together you can get more accomplished.
Pretend you're a tourist. What's one place you'd take a visitor to see in your town? Go there with your child.
