Gratitude: A Family Practice
Did you know that focusing on things that you are grateful for or make you happy can improve your physical and mental health? Practicing gratitude is a great way to help kids “reset” or get “unstuck” if they are in a fixed mindset or being overly negative. Here are five ways to help practice gratitude in your home:
Start a gratitude jar.
End each day with gratitude - At bedtime have your child tell you something they were grateful for that happened that day.
Read short stories about gratitude.
Start a family journal where one person writes a sentence or two about something positive or happy then the next night someone else. Pass it around over and over and enjoy reading what others write.
Model gratitude for your child by saying things that you are grateful for as often as possible.
Here are a few books/links to read/watch that can help inspire gratitude and positive thinking.
