Mar. 12-15, 2024

Learning Targets/Agenda: (not necessarily in this order)

Students will listen to a book/lesson.

Students will answer questions about the book/lesson.

Students will take an Accelerated Reader quiz for the story OR complete an activity related to the story.

Students will read books on Epic!, or MyOn, or practice skills on Lexia Core or Prodigy.

Students who did not select book(s) for Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) will do so this week.

REMINDER TO STUDENTS: You should NOT be on your Chromebook until I tell you to open them! You will use them for the quiz AFTER the story and then during your independent activity.... just like we always do.  Thank you!  😉

Thursday, March 14th is mostly known as Pi Day (3.14), but it is also National Potato Chip Day, National Learn About Butterflies Day, and National Napping Day, among other celebrations... like Mrs. Watson's BIRTHDAY!

Since students love potato chips so much, we will be learning about the man that INVENTED them!  His name is George "Crum" Speck.  He was born on July 15, 1824, in Saratoga Springs, New York.  He died at the age of 90 on July 22, 1914, in Malta, New York.

George Crum and his wife

George Crum with his sister that everyone called "Aunt Kate"

The book we will be listening to was written by Gaylia Taylor.  She wrote the words, which means she is the author.

The pictures were drawn & painted by Frank Morrison.  He is the illustrator.
