Sept. 13-19, 2023

What I really love about this book is how the message of beginning your artwork with just a dot is similar to how you often times have to work toward the goals you may have for yourself!  No matter what you want to do in life, it always starts with one little action.  In most cases, you can never be fully successful or be really great at what you're trying to accomplish right away.  It usually starts with one skill or action and then you build on it.  In this book, Vashti gets stuck, but finally makes a mark.  She gets started with one little action!  Then she builds on it to get even better.  In the meantime, she inspires others as well.

6.  Activity:  Create your own dot and watch it come to life! Create your own design or image within the circle on the Quiver worksheet I am giving you.  If you're stumped on what kind of design to create, try using the types of lines you've learned about in art. (Cross-curricular: Art)

Library substitute: please make sure the students have their name on their dot and collect them before leaving.  Please keep the papers separated by class.  I will be showing the students their design in augmented reality next week.

Play this video (muted, if you like) while the students are working.

Extras for Ms. Wall.  My library substitute won't necessarily need these following videos/links:
