WHAT IS THE SUBJECT ABOUT?
Design and Technology involves designing, producing and evaluating quality solutions to any given design situation and brief. It involves a range of practical experiences following the design process - design brief interpretation, investigation, designing possible solutions, using available technology during the designing and making phases, the production of a solution, marketing and managing a project through various communication styles and evaluation.

Written report/computer assessment

WHAT SHOULD I CONSIDER BEFORE CHOOSING THIS SUBJECT?
An interest in researching, designing and making individual projects is essential. Your skills base will develop throughout the completion of your project as well as the ability to be an independent worker.Â
Costs incurred for practical materials will depend on individual choices. This may include paint, brushes, timber, fabric etc
You will need to purchase a kit consisting of a blue apron, dust mask, safety glasses and ear plugs ( You may still have your kit from year 7)
If choosing Design and Technology in Years 9 and 10, it provides a good background for Years 11 and 12 Design and Technology.
Relevant career choices may include :- Industrial Design, Interior Design, Fabric designer, Carpenter, Machinist, Furniture Designer and Restoration or any career with a Design Focus.
