There are 10 Year 11 SRC Captains at Cerdon College. Two Captains are responsible for a year group from Years 7 - 11.
The SRC Captain recognises the importance and value of student input, involvement in school activities and decision making. She has the ability to animate and liaise with students and staff at different year levels within the school community.
Her specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Working with her co-SRC Captain in giving students in the year level she is assigned a forum to have their suggestions and opinions heard.
- Working with the guidance Co-ordinator and class captains to animate and build the Marist Family Spirit within the year group. Building a Community that is ready to work for the welfare of every student.
- Meeting with year level class captains on a regular basis (weekly / fortnightly) to support and facilitate discussion and brainstorming sessions towards building an inclusive community through shared decision making and Year level activities.
- Being a link between the students, their elected class captain, the student executive, guidance coordinator and school leadership team.
- Meeting with the student executive and staff liaison at least twice a term.
- Being involved in lunchtime activities, student communication, house activities and forums thus building relationships and community school spirit.
- Ensuring that all students in her year level of responsibility are represented equally and that all correspondence is responded to in a timely manner.
- To be proactive in bringing about change by presenting students suggestions to the student executive and therefore school leadership team.
