Week beginning - Monday 12th January 2026
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
Year 6 have been stepping back in time as they continue their learning on their first line of inquiry: Laws Over Time.
During our lessons, they have been fascinated (and sometimes horrified!) by the harsh and brutal crimes of the Roman era, discovering how public punishment and humiliation were used to scare citizens into obeying the law. Bringing history to life, the children have written imaginative diary entries and journals from the Roman era, cleverly weaving in their impressive grammatical skills, such as fronted adverbials, relative clauses and prepositions. Meanwhile, in maths, Year 6 have become real pros at finding percentages of amounts – so if you need help working out the best bargain or discount, they are definitely the ones to ask!
6C
You have shown yourself to be an open-minded learner when developing new knowledge about crime and punishment throughout the ages. You have been an incredible thinker and have shared your ideas, thoughts, and opinions superbly. Excellent work — very impressed!
6S
So far this term, Ernie has massively improved his behaviour which has meant that his learning has been far more focused and successful. Keep this up Ernie, you should be proud of yourself!

This week your description was captivating - I could see how knowledgeable you are and how much of a risk taker you've been to include grammatical devices. Well done!
