Week beginning - Monday 5th January 2026
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
Happy New Year to you all! We have loved welcoming the children back to school and have enjoyed a wonderful week filled with exciting learning opportunities. In Phonics, we have been focusing on trigraphs (three letters making one sound). We have been working hard to decode and blend words with the 'air' and 'ear' trigraphs. We have focused on words such as chair, stairs, fairy, hair, bear, pear and wear. We have been busy focusing on number in our Maths lessons. We have been developing our knowledge of bonds to ten and writing numbers to ten accurately as numerals and words. The children loved taking part in a team treasure hunt around our learning environment, where they had to identify and represent numbers to twenty. The children have loved delving into our new core text, 'Between Tick and Tock.' The children enjoyed making sensible predictions, retrieving answers from the text and understanding the importance of acts of kindness and how they can brighten a person's day. Our budding artists enjoyed being introduced to our artist for this term. We are very much looking forward to seeing how the work of William Morris influences the children's own creations over the coming weeks. The children loved working collaboratively across the Key Stage this week to design and create their own monsters in French, after they listened to the story 'Va-t'en, Grand Monstre Vert!' After a fantastic start to the term, we are excited to see where the children's learning and curiosity will take them next week!
