Week beginning - Monday 19th January 2026
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
This week in phonics, we have learnt the digraphs qu and ch. These sounds can start to be a bit tricky for the children as it is two letters that make one sound. We have been using these sounds to read and write CVC words, really focusing on our letter formation and handwriting.
In maths, we have been looking at measure. We learnt how to use the scales to measure objects and identify which objects are heavier and lighter. We also explored capacity by measuring how much different containers can hold. We used language like full, half full and empty and compared which containers held more or less.
We had so much fun in our Inquiry this week. We took a plane trip to France! Once we arrived in France we decided which shuttle bus to board to take us to Marseille (warm location) or Val d'Isere (cold location). Thank you for providing your children with exciting clothing and objects in bags for them to use throughout this experience. The children thoroughly enjoyed this experience!
