Week beginning - Monday 12th January 2026
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
This week in Year 4, we continued our exploration of the fascinating world of the Mayans. The children learned about the importance of chocolate and the significant role it played in Mayan culture. This learning linked beautifully with our Science work on states of matter, where we explored solids, liquids and gases, focusing on how their particles behave. We also explored recipe writing for chocolate, which may bring a lovely surprise for you later this term!
In Reading, we focused on developing our vocabulary by exploring a range of texts linked to the Mayans, including a fun and engaging taco recipe.
In Maths, we explored multiplying 2-digit and 3-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers. The children recognised patterns and built confidence in applying these strategies to a range of problems.
We are continuing to strengthen our times tables knowledge and will practise these throughout the term. Our current focus remains on the 3s, 6s and 9s tables.
