Week beginning - Monday 19th January 2026
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
It has been an immersive week as Year 5 explored the Anglo-Saxon migration through both history and art. In inquiry, the children wrote moving diary entries from the perspective of a migrant, capturing the emotions of leaving a homeland. We paired this with map work to track the Saxon invasion, specifically analysing the push and pull factors that led them to British shores. In PE, the children learned how to perform a variety of rolls before creating their own sequencies in pairs. Finally, in Inquiry, students applied their scientific knowledge of material properties to compare Saxon craftsmanship with modern-day engineering. It’s been fantastic to see the children connect historical life with scientific reasoning!
