Week beginning - Monday 12th January 2026
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
This week the children have been learning about the sounds x and z, practising how to recognise and read words that include these sounds. They have also been writing simple regular words using sounds that they already know helping to build their confidence and independence in their writing. We have started focused handwriting lessons this module concentrating on correct letter formation. These short targeted sessions are helping children develop better control and confidence when forming letters. This week we have focused on the letters u w and e.
In Maths our focus has been on understanding one more and one less. The children have been playing fun games including bingo to reinforce this concept in an engaging and practical way.
We were extremely lucky to have Conjesta who is Head teacher of the Kondoa Diocese Primary School in Tanzania, Africa, visit school on Wednesday as part of our Inquiry learning about journeys . Kondoa is the Diocese that includes Bereko parish, the village we are linked with. The children worked together to think of questions to ask our visitor developing their thinking, speaking, listening and questioning skills. Ask your child what they found out about Conjesta's journey.

Aurora has been a determined risk taker this week. She decided on what activity she was going to participate in and then thought of a plan to try and succeed. This was clear to see when you made a mode of transport with the junk modelling for a journey. I'm so proud of you!
