Sally Berry attended Oklahoma State University on a full athletic scholarship for two years. After a family tragedy, she transferred to the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) so she could be closer to help her family. She continued at UCO on a full athletic scholarship and became the first women's soccer player to be inducted into the UCO Athletic Hall of Fame. She graduated with her Bachelors of Science in Education degree in May of 2001.
Upon graduating and months of researching surrounding school districts, Sally decided Oklahoma City Public Schools is where she wanted to begin her career. She began her first year of teaching at Eisenhower Elementary as a Computer Science teacher. She spent a total of 9 years at Eisenhower, the first half as a computer science teacher and later a 5th grade teacher.
After spending 9 years at Eisenhower Elementary, Sally transferred to Andrew Johnson Elementary in OKCPS so she could be in the same building as her daughter. She was a 6th grade teacher at Johnson for 6 years where she taught all subjects and served on the leadership team there. In 2019, Pathway to Greatness took place and Johnson was revamped into a pre-k center. She was then invited to become a 5th grade teacher at Belle Isle Enterprise Middle School.
Sally is currently in her 5th year at Belle Isle and she has loved every minute of it. She currently teaches Math Strategies and Creative Writing. Math Strategies is a course she has built from the ground up focusing on how we use math in the real world. It is a project based learning class that not only focuses on real world scenarios, but also helps students fall in love with math again. Her Creative Writing course is also geared more towards projects and teaches her students how to become better writers and bring their stories to life.
Aside from her teaching responsibilities, Sally also serves on our school Lighthouse Leadership team, she is the assistant volleyball coach as well as the assistant coach for the girls soccer team.
