I was born in the Philippines, on the other side of the world, but I call Oklahoma City home. My family moved here before I started Kindergarten, and I attended schools in OKCPS all the way through high school. After graduating from the University of Oklahoma, I began teaching in OKCPS as a middle school ESL Teacher, and later as a Geography Teacher. After nine years of teaching in a middle school, I began teaching Third Grade at Kaiser Elementary School. I have been teaching at Kaiser for 18 years now. In total, I have taught for 27 years in OKCPS. It has been a learning experience as much as it has been a teaching experience, and it has never been just a job. The amazing children, the vivid memories, the absolute joys, the solid relationships, the challenges, the progress--I am so honored and proud to be a part of the OKCPS family.
The rewards I find in teaching are knowing that the work I do and the relationships that I develop with students and their families, as well as other professionals in the educational sector, will have a positive and direct impact on the larger community that we all share. Having grown up in the same community where I now teach, I know that I was heavily influenced by many hard-working, dedicated teachers in OKCPS. The impact of their devotion to the teaching profession, and the young learners we serve, still resonates with me to this day. It is a privilege to do the same now for the place where I choose to live, work, and raise a family. Right here, at home, in Oklahoma City.
