Jacqualine Bufford is the French teacher at Northwest Classen High School in Oklahoma City, where she has been employed for the last five years. She is a New Mexico native who graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Arts in French in 2007. She received her Master’s in French literature in 2010. Jacqualine continued as a Ph.D. student in French literature from 2010 – 2013 before leaving graduate school for the professional workforce. Previous to teaching at NW Classen, she taught several disciplines at Justice Alma Wilson Seeworth Academy for 3 years. Her work there included teaching French, English, the Seeworth Rock Band, and the drumline. She was also the head girls’ basketball coach. She was named Teacher of the Year at Seeworth in 2019. Her 14-year teaching career also includes 6 years of teaching undergraduate French at the University of Oklahoma.
Jacqualine has had the privilege of spearheading criterion-based grading in conjunction with behavioral feedback standards at NW Classen. She has worked as a team lead to share the results and data of the program with colleagues across the building. The collaboration that has resulted will have a lasting impact on their student body, student achievement, and how things operate at NW Classen.
Her career goal in education is simple - wherever or however she is called to serve, she aspires to make a profound difference in the lives of the students and families across the Oklahoma City Public School District.
