Jennifer Reyes-Garcia was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 2011 with a high school diploma, an International Baccalaureate Diploma, and 20 college credit hours. In 2015 she completed her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education at Northeastern State University and immediately went to work for Tulsa Union Public Schools. In the midst of the pandemic, a job transfer for Jennifer's husband relocated the family to Oklahoma City. Jennifer has taught fourth grade at Mark Twain Elementary in Oklahoma City Public Schools for four school years and has served as a lead teacher, new teacher mentor, and grade-level facilitator.Â
In 2022, Jennifer was presented with the opportunity to earn her master's in administration through the very first bilingual/diversity aspiring administrators pipeline funded by the Oklahoma City Public Schools Foundation. In December of 2023, Jennifer graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a master's degree in administration and was named Teacher of the Year for her school site. Through partnerships with community sponsors and the effective use of Donors Choose, she works relentlessly to advocate for the well-being of her students and their families. Today Jennifer continues to serve as a fourth-grade teacher at THE premier Mark Twain Elementary School and serves the district as a facilitator for the elementary writing cohort. Jennifer has found a home in OKCPS and aspires to spend the rest of her career in education serving the students and the community of the district.
