I am a 14-year veteran of the classroom, having spent my entire career teaching students with disabilities. I have a Masters of Arts in Teaching and a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities from Trinity University. My career has ranged from working with students with learning disabilities in a lab setting to a self-contained classroom for students with multiple disabilities. In my current role, I work with students of varying disabilities in a self-contained classroom. Each position has helped me grow and change as a classroom teacher. I have learned how to better work with parents, other professionals, and helped my students to become better members of our school community. I strive to ensure that all students achieve academically and socially while in my classroom. I feel that it is important for my students to be the best that they can be and I am proud to be able to help them on their academic journey.
I believe that all students have the capacity to learn and achieve greatness, whether it be in the classroom or by participating in after school activities. One of the ways I help our students at Coolidge achieve greatness is by coaching a Girls on the Run team. This allows me to help girls with their social and emotional learning that often gets left out of the classroom. I enjoy my time spent with the team helping them to train, grow, and complete a 5k race. It brings me great joy when I'm able to help the girls find success in the program which leads to success in the classroom.Â
